Enable PHP 5.3 support

Our servers support both PHP 5.2 and PHP 5.3. The default version is PHP 5.2.x but you can follow the directions below to use PHP 5.3.x instead.

Before switching, please be aware of backwards compatibility issues with scripts: Older PHP scripts/codes may not be compatible with newer versions of PHP.

Please Note: Using PHP 5.3 may break sites requiring Zend or ioncube that were encoded with PHP 5.2. We recommend you check with the application/script developers to see if they have a PHP 5.3 version available.

In order to utilize PHP 5.3 handler, you will need to add the following code to your .htaccess file:

# Use PHP 5.3
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php53 .php

You may edit your .htaccess file via the FTP client program or through your cPanel control panel File Manager.

Please note: You're not required to make the above change and the default PHP version will be switched to 5.3.x automatically on the 12/08/2013.
